SKI EASTER
Easter skiing is one of the best times to ski with friends and or family. Whilst nothing is guranteed when it comes to the weather, typically the Easter ski holidays offer warmer and longer days, lots of sunshine and generally very good snow conditions. The warmer days are of course great for children and if ever there is a time to ski with the family, in our view at is the ski Easter week.
In terms of the snow, we are often asked at Chalet Ski whether there will be snow at Easter and we are pleased to say from our experience its nearly always very good, and when its not, it isn't bad either, it is pretty good from what we have seen in recent years! Yes, when Easter is late the high ski resorts are better, but for the last three years we have had snow just before the Easter ski holidays and most ski resorts have experienced fabulous skiing at all levels. Last year 50cm fell the first weekend and the weekend before over 1m of snow fell over three days, below 1,000m too and offered probably the best skiing of these seasons.
However, Easter skiing isn't just about skiing. The days are warmer so the slopes do soften quicker and therefore often by 3.30pmmost will have enjoyed enough snow and sun on the piste, and will head off into the ski resorts to shop, grab a beer or glass of wine, and really enjoy the relaxed Easter apres-ski. With the sun shining there really is a relaxed carnival feel as revellers enjoy the open air, shops and cafe culture, and the spring sunshine with young and old mixing together. Family ski groupos won't just enjoy the apres-ski, but the activities that get organised with children enjoying more fresh air at Easter than the probably have all winter!
