Ski Chalet Holidays

As experienced skiers its easy I guess to forget our very first ski holiday and both the exitement and trepidation of what to expect and how to book. Certainly whenever we get new ski groups, people organising tgeir first ski trip, or ski beginners we try and make sure they get as much information out of us as possible and today we thought we would give you a typical guide to a ski chalet holiday and what you can expect.

Whilst you can opt for an all in one package, many prefer the convenience and value for money of organising flights, transfers, and the ski chalet. This blog therefore assumes a bespoke ski holiday approach (it is very easy to organise).

The first thing to do is choose the resort rather than look for a chalet. If you are beginner try and avoid the big name luxury ski resorts as these are geared typically for intermediates and advanced skiers. Look for resorts with runs that suit your level and use a ski resort guide as necessary. Also have two or three choices as this will give more choice when you are searching for a ski chalet. If in doubt, or unsure, give us a call, our advise and expertise is freely given and without obligation. Once you have selected your preferred ski resort, choice is important in order to select the best match. Sites like Chalet Ski can provide a number of ski chalets in given resorts and ski chalet operators like ourselves can also provide a great deal of knowledge on the chalets pros abs cons so don't be afraid to ask and use our knowledge. Here at Chalet Ski we try and provide you with as much information as possible so you make an informed choice. If others don't, you may want to try someone else. Once the chalet is booked and secured, the next stepcis to book flights. The rise of cheap flight operators ensures good choice but in peak weeks it's best to book early to get the best choice and price. Also check with your operator the best and nearest airport for transferring to resort as it can affect the price of your ski transfer. Many chalets include transfers but don't worry if yours doesn't as the rise of the bespoke ski holiday travel has seen a similar rise in airport transfer companies. Ask you ski operator for recommendations although a simple search will highlight many options. Once these steps have been taken, it's just a case of sitting back and waiting for the start of a great ski holiday.
